I hate to have to do it, but I am just not in love with this hat. I am asking $110 including shipping within the U.S., but will entertain offers too. I can accept PayPal, but a mailed check will do just as well.
This is a beautiful vintage fedora in a snug size 7 5/8, feast your eyes on this luxurious felt hat from DOBBS—the PARKER model. The "two-story" lining imprint design and the protective layer of translucent oilskin over it tell us this hat probably dates to the 1950's, and it's called the TWENTY, which means it sold for a whole twenty bucks.
The material is a fine, luxuriously soft fur felt, the stylishly narrow 1 7/8" brim is elegantly finished off in a Guild Edge. Known elsewhere as the Cavanagh Edge, this is a deluxe welt that's formed by hand during the felting process rather than folded over and sewn down later on. That's a mark of top quality! The pinch-front crown stands 4 3/4" tall, and the dark brown 2" grosgrain ribbon hatband complements the dark brown color (CORDOVA) of the felt itself.
The interior lining is done in shimmering ivory satin; the brown leather sweatband is gold-embossed with the Dobbs Twenty horse-and-coach logo and the name of the original retailer, Lytton's.
Size: The size tag is gone, but the data labels inside identify it as a size 7 5/8, corroborated by the same figures scrawled in grease pencil on the back side of the sweatband. The inside circumference is about 23 1/2", which may seems to be small for the tagged size. I wear a size 7 5/8 hat and this one is just a bit snug on me.
Condition: Excellent condition!! It is actually in better condition than my brand new Stetson. This hat was professionally blocked and cleaned last month. The hat is very fresh and clean for a used hat over fifty years old, with no holes, stains, or moth bites. It's a beauty! Comes with what I assume is the original Dobbs hat box.
Thanks,
Mike
