Chances are you have a dollar store in your area. They seem to be popping up everywhere. Whatever the name, these are all generally medium size stores with all items for, you guessed it, a dollar! Most dollar stores also have items that cost more than a dollar, but ninety percent of the stock can be purchased with a George Washington and some change for tax.
I have been shopping at dollars stores for years and most do have their fair amount of junk. Stuff I wouldn't take home even if they paid me a dollar.
However the thrill of finding items at unbelievable values is a strong motivator for me! Every time I go to one of these places it's like a treasure hunt.
This week I found these three great treasures for a buck each.
1-A mint condtion copy of "Making The Movie"- Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York". I would call this a coffee table book since it has 288 pages, weighs a ton and has loads of vintage style full color pics from the film. There were at least a dozen of these books in the store. It's a beauty and so is Cameron Diaz, who's photos in addition to Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis fill this awesome read!! This was what I'd call a steal since the original price was $25.00.
2-A men's black rubber cord necklace with a silver tone vintage-leaf motif.
Can be worn at the neck under a classic oxford or with a black T. Hey the look is cool, who cares about the cheap cost.
3-A retro diner-style napkin holder with salt and pepper shakers and a straw dispenser.
