I heard this on the 5 o’clock funnies on KLOS a few days ago while driving and laughed so hard I thought I’d have to pull over! Not sure of the comics name, let's call him Robert.

This guy Robert was talking about how he went to a Liberal Arts College that was very hopped up on shaping well rounded students with a good education. The college board liked to say “Where the physics majors take English Lit and the English majors take physics.” Robert and the Artsy crowd take a class called "Physics for English Majors" and he goes on to say that the physics professors and TA’s were astonished at the non-science students inability to comprehend physics, that they could hardy keep from showing their vast contempt for the artsy types. In the end the physics professor gave them a break and had a fairly easy 5 question final. The students come in for the final and the 5 questions were carefully written out on the big black board up front.

The Fifth Question reads: Captain Kirk is in command of the Starship Enterprise when the Romulans attack. The Enterprise is stopped and the Romulans come around a small moon 8500 kilometers away heading straight at the Enterprise at 1500 kilometers per minute. The Enterprise Phaser burst travels at 25,000 kilometer per minute. Kirk orders Chekov to fire the phaser. How much time will elapse until the phaser burst hits the Romulan vessel?
(Basically a Speed / Distance / Time problem.)

The exam starts and time goes by, and Roberts friend in the class related back to Robert the scene he, Robert causes near the end of the exam. Roberts friend says: “Dude, all of a sudden you stood and walked down to the professor’s desk and started speaking to him on something. I couldn’t hear but you were pretty heated in your confrontation. All of a sudden the professor’s head just drops forward. After a couple of moments the professor stood up and addressed the whole class saying:

“I have been informed that question number five has some of the class feeling it is a trick question and cannot be solved. I have been given information that will fix the problem and make it solvable.

THE PERSON FIRING THE PHASER IS SULU, NOT CHEKOV!” “
