For Sale: Vintage Paragon straw boater
Long Oval
I am not a hat expert so please politely let me know if I have any incorrect details. My intent is to find a home for this hat other than the Thrift Store.
Size not marked
Measurements:
The leather sweatband seems to be a bit smaller that the hat but it may be that it has shrunk a bit since the stitching has deteriorated and it is detached in some places. It has been reattached with thread unprofessionally. This hat would benefit from a little restoration but it is wearable as is.
Length 8 1/4" x 6 3/8" 22" approximate circumference
Brim 2 1/2" (front) 2 3/8" (on sides and rear)
Crown 3 1/4"
Ribbon 1 5/8"
Ribbon black (I think this ribbon is called crossgrain)
Sweatband is still soft and supple
There is damaged place on the edge of the brim (see photo).
There are some "white spots" in several places. They look to me like they are small abrasions exposing the inside of the piece of straw.
Please look at the bow. I'm not sure what it is supposed to look like but I don't think it is damaged.
The trademark is smeared but still readable.
The person who owned it wrote their name in it.
