My mom grew up in Forest Hills.
I'm not too sure what it's like now, but she looks back on the neighborhood with very fond memories.
Actually, my cousin is in the process of writing a book about it, along with time spent in Q Gardens. I'll let you know when it comes out. Might give you a better idea of the place.

Where in Forest Hills?There is an area thats mostly apt.s and the theres FH Gardens which are large older homes but it's all rather expensive.Overall its pretty nice.My ex and son live there.If you have a more specific location I could tell you more.

The best thing about Forest Hills? It gave us these guys.
Not fairly pricey, INCREDIBLY PRICEY. Austin Street is lined with restaurants and wine bars. There used to be a great German old bakery there till it got priced out. Forest Hill Gardens (Estates?) is probably the most coveted zip code in Queens.
I'm old. The first time I went to Forest Hills was to see Elvis Costello and the Attractions in 82. That was at the Tennis Center. They were having some great concerts there back then, but the neighborhood complained. I guess it's okay for them to come to our neighborhoods for frolic, but we're not to go to theirs.
