Up for sale: early 1950s (reliably dated by the military spec Talon #5 main zipper) police jacket in likely horsehide. This jacket pattern has become iconic, and has been reproduced by the Real McCoy's, Freewheelers, Lost Worlds, among others. No surprise as this pattern is truly stunning. Originally used by the police, the style is sharp, to the point; classic. This one was tough to list, but I'm just minimizing my collection. A fantastic piece of mid-century history to pass on for another to enjoy.

As you can see, amazing features and details on this one - nice epaulettes with original police brass buttons, heavy drill-type lining, inside pocket, amazingly unique collar structure, inner storm cuffs, inner collar flap (?, heavy Talon #5 military spec zipper with thick teeth, bottom back pleats, you name it. These police jackets were ultimately designed to meet the highest standards, and this one certainly shows. Unlabeled, as most police jackets were at the time, my best guess (which I'm relatively confident in) is that this is heavy horsehide. A quite substantial jacket but wears super well and to the point.

Of course, this is unlabeled - however I have seen (and another member had agreed) that the features of the jacket closely resembles certain California Sportwear police jackets of the time - namely, the underarm football articulations, the design of the belt loops, the bottoms back pleats, etc. Just an educated guess - but in any case, regardless of maker, still a stunning and well-built jacket.

The condition on this piece is overall good and clean - the leather is great - no cracking, no flaking, no tears at all, no dryness, etc. Appears to have one stitching repair under one armpit (or could quite possibly be original), but in any case was done quite a long time ago and feels super solid. There is some wear on the heavy drill lining as pictured, but is overall clean. Some what appears to be paint marks in one spot, and faint remnants of probably a police badge on the back. No foul odors. Main zipper works great. You might notice that one pull is missing, but that's okay because I have the second original pull and it is included in the pocket. Overall good to go and ready for wear.

Please refer to the measurements listed below (and pictured). Please allow a small degree of discrepancy due to human error:

Pit to pit: 20.3
Shoulder to shoulder: 18.5"
Sleeve (measured straight from shoulder to cuff): 24"
Back length from bottom of collar: 22
Front length: 23.25"
Bottom hem: 18"

Please note that I do my best to exhibit the condition and size of the jacket as you will receive it. If you have any questions about the aforementioned, please do not hesitate to reach out so that I can provide answers or additional photos.

Asking price is $275 shipped for the jacket in the continental U.S. PayPal friends and family. It will be quickly shipped upon payment.
