Mayser in a rich chocolate brown. I understand this to be approximately mid-late 50s. Any insight on what the stamped numbers may be?

Thanks, Steve. It's in really great shape and a lovely felt. The other velours will have to do untill one in my size comes along.

My Notes: The catalog comes from the estate of the former prima ballerina at the Vienna State Opera, Julia Drapal. The catalog is probably from the mid 1950s. In 1955 1 United States Dollar = 26 Austrian Schillings. A thank you to Stefan for the tip.

This is a great document of contemporary history - both hatter and cultural history!
I assume that the autographs are original!?

Matt, Yes another Camber example and from Austria. It's definitely a brim up style but not as formal as a Homburg. I wonder if "50" is the year -> 1950? If so it would be earlier. By the way I have some interesting information on the Homburg that I need to post.

An excellent piece! Glad to see you've acquired it, Steve. Good to see another "camber" mention as well.

Found this German Hückel brand Fedora manufactured in Czechoslovakia for a Finnish retailer! I don't know much about fedora hats (My first ever!); which era would this be?

Super! J. Hückel´s Söhne (JHS) main factory in Nový Jičín, Czechoslovakia (was Neutitschein, Austria up to WWI) became Tonak Factory 1 after WWII. All Hat Factories in Czechoslovakia were nationalized as Tonak but only two survived (Janyška was Factory 2). Your hat is the from 1950s. Is the liner stitched or glued in? Would be great to see more detailed photos of the exterior. Front and side views. Also the sweatband logos and rear bow. You can read more here about JHS here. There is info on Tonak and Janyška if you search.

  19. Can anyone (Steve?) tell me what this style of hat is called. I’m considering it as a gift to a proud German-American friend of mine.
