Interesting and an addition to Steve's post:
My catalog came with 2 extra inserts, but they also repeat parts of the large catalog...

Matt, Fantastic! These are really great additions! Thank you finding and posting! :)
Thank you, Steve! I don't explicitly look for such things, but this book with the various supplements immediately caught my eye.
Incidentally, I believe that the enclosed booklet in its design with Art Nouveau elements probably predates WW I (perhaps 1910/15???), so it must be older than the large catalogue.

Matt, I also purchased a copy of the 25th Anniversary (1927) booklet. I am not sure about the smaller booklet. Some of the info matches the 25th Anniversary booklet (could use older content). I did notice the Austrian Hungarian "K. K. Postsparkasse / Imperial Royal Postal Savings (see below)" but not sure if that was used post WWI. The "München 2" and "8602" telephone number might be helpful in dating.

That is one fine bowler, Steve, and hard to top.

Posting this one here at the request of Steve @mayserwegener

Obviously a German maker due to the paper labels. Steve has a theory as to which one.

View attachment 571256

For a 90+ year old hat it's in very good condition.

The icing on the cake is the fine liner with its two-tone piping and the sweatband logo.

Fantastic Melone, Steve: That liner is breathtaking!

A wall with 3 towers is depicted at the bottom right of the wonderful logo: The coat of arms of Guben. This would go well with the small round size sticker, which I think Steve has always suspected to be of 'East German' origin.

What a 'luxury' to find 2 paper labels under the sweatband: The one on the left doesn't ring a bell, but we've already seen the label on the right several times - including on the recently quoted woolie...
And 3.: black "Colonia" (= Köln City) made of a lovely wool felt with back bow.
This is an unknown (to me) brand we don't know anything about it - except:
The paper and size label is the same as on J.A.Seidl so probably the same (unknown) source,
which apparently made wonderful wool felt hats of really good, if not excellent, quality.

Stefan, Steve @Steve1857 , Super find Steve! I have a Soft Felt Velour (see below) that has a very similar liner and most likely came from the same hat company. It looks like it's Fur Felt. Is that the case?

The 3 Gate Towers Coat of Arms /Wappen on Steve' Stiff Felt Liner could point to a Guben source which would make sense. I believe there is another example with the 3 Gate Towers.

Sorry Steve, I didn't mean to come across as a know-it-all: I've only just seen in the Bowler thread that you've already made this connection - good work as always. Looking forward to your additional info.

I am sure Steve won't mind, Matt. In fact, I'm pretty certain he'll be delighted to have you agree with him. I know I'm grateful for both your insights.

Matt, I am happy you commented. I seem to recall you found another hat with the Guben Coat of Arms. Unfortunately I can't remember. I have a list of "No Hat Company" Soft and Stiff Felt Hats that I am arranging by Paper Label types. If there are no Paper Labels possible similar components.

Here are the Soft Felt Hats and Stiff Felt Hats with the "Arbeits-No." Paper Label. They all have the same external Size Label type. Two have an additional Paper Label with the same format. The "Rollo" Fur Stiff Felt doesn't have "Lohn-No.". There are no entries for "Lohn-No." so it was probably later dropped. Will have to check to see if there are any other hats with "Arbeits-No." Paper Label. Possible Guben Coat of Arms on the "Rollo" Fur Stiff Felt and "Orion" Wool Soft Felt. At this point only collecting data.

Fantastic, Steve! Didn't remember there were so many with the Arbeits-Nr. label - and so many different: wool and fur soft and stiff felts!

I did a short research for the Guben coat of arms: I had put them together a while back - starting point was your Orion hat with the coat of arms on the liner...
Maybe there are some more now - at least one pre WWII woolie I didn't post so far.
That one's fantastic, Steve! I really dig the felt and ribbon colour combination.
And it's a wonderful example of a high quality wool felt hat - perfect for this thread!

By the way, I think the hat could have come from one of the factories in Guben,
as the coat of arms on the lining matches that of the town:
A very similar crowned city wall with three towers/city gates.
I can hardly imagine that this is a coincidence...

Matt, Thank you regarding the 2nd Guben Coat of Arms. I added a close up to the Orion listing.
