This is from a pair of "black" ;) JHS velours Matt found for me last year-thank you!

JHS "Extra" in black. Thick, heavy velour. Nice gloss that doesn't show in full in my pics. Generous proportions. Probably late 20s-early 30s

Ha, didn't remember that one - completely wrongly!
I'm very glad you like it, because you never know: not everyone likes old black hats. ;) Therefore: You're welcome - and I hope it also fits.

I'm really curious, Panos, but I think I have a hunch about this....
But while we wait and almost burst with excitement:

P. M. Pinçon & Co., Neuer Wall 26-28, Hamburg
The name and address once belonged to a famous hatter,
from whom Chancellor Bismarck used to buy his top hats (so the legend goes).
I do not know when the company was founded - but I do know it was deleted
from the Commercial Register in December 1972.
At the address Neuer Wall 26-28 is the "Haus Pinçon",
built in 1904 and still named after him, which was completely restored
15 years ago and returned to its original condition.
By the way, the Weitz company was the first tenant in 1904.

And as if the top hat as an early Christmas present to myself wasn't enough,
I also quadrupled the number of hat holders (2 x Rockel + 1 x Wegener are new)
- a kind of addition to my already existing collection of stiff felts OR
yet the start of a new collection!? Who knows - maybe a bit of both....

Some great new additions, Matt.

A hat box collection is always a plus when one has so many hats :)

Matt, Beautiful Silk Top Hat + Case! Also thank you for the background history. What is interesting is the paper label with the specs is similar to my recent Fritz Reuter Hoflieferant Düsseldorf. Also the some of the components and construction.

Thank you, Steve, also for your addition:
In the Toppers Unite thread, I already merged these two hats - but here, I forgot.

All these beautiful black sheep need to be brought back to the fold. Can't leave them out there on their own!
What about the Green sheep? ;)

This is the other "black" velour that came with (thanks Matt!)

JHS "Standard", "Jota" velour in dark green. Shorter nap and lighter felt than its pair. Slightly smaller overall proportions too. From the components possibly a cheaper everyday hat (more worn too) compared to the W/end/Sunday black one (I suspect they originally belonged to the same person, engraved initials suggest so too). Probably early to mid 30s

Ha, that one I really remember: The first of the "two Black Beauties" I found.
After I got in contact to the seller, he said he's got a second, even better -
and so more expensive one - actually his grandfather's Sunday hat.
But I think we got a good deal and they arrived together - not both in black ;)

Panos, Fantastic! It's Seal Velour like. I can't make out if there is anything below the main liner mark. Really like the bow design and form. I checked the only other dark green JHS hat I could think of and the Fabre (F) is 768 so in the same number range (your Jota F 738).

Thanks Matt! It all makes sense! I have one more velour to post from our exchange last year (can you guess?), I think we did pretty well! If I recall correctly you might also have a couple in your size? ;)
