Hi everybody and renowned TFL experts!
Long time lurker but first time posting. I am a (vintage) French guy now living in Germany, and I have loved vintage leather jackets since I bought my first one at the age of 18 in 1986. I thought this thread was probably the best to post my question.
I have several jackets with Gutos buckle belts. I understand those buckles with the DB Patent were made in the 50s, but the question is, does anybody know when they stopped wearing this inscription?
Case in point: the below picture has two Gutos buckles :
- the one on the left is on a jacket supposedly from the 50s, although it could be more recent, it bears the U.S. and D.B. patent marks;
- the second one is on a HARRO Rennweste, which began production in the 60s but lasted until 2014, or so I've read. It bears only "Gutos PFORZHEIM", no patent mark ; also, the general shape is similar but it's not exactly the same design.
Of course the idea is to pinpoint a bit more precisely the age of those buckles, if not the age of the jacket themselves.
By the way I think it would be interesting to also show the older jacket itself, it's a model which has already been seen on this thread, more or less, made by an artisan called "Harr am Eck Lederbekleidung". What makes it special, apart from the fact that i find it magnificent, is the leopard fake fur lining which I had never seen before. The leather was really faded, stained with paint etc when I bought the jacket for cheap (see third picture), but all zippers are perfect and functioning (RUHR zippers) and all stitchings are OK. So the restoration job was easy (it's really dark green, not black as on the picture) with a few good Saphir products.
