I've read that he's a top-notch western maker (though I have no personal experience), and that he blocks panamas for Brent Black. He's certainly not cheap, with his pure beaver selling for 800, and the beaver blends going for $550.

Here at Greeley Hat Works, we keep it simple. Pure Beaver is exactly that, and of the highest quality. 5X to Beaver Blend are blends that we feel good about and can offer at a lower cost. All of our hats are built one at a time, by trained hands. Nothing else would be good enough.

We do not use rabbit hair. It is one notch above wool and lower than anything we use. Our 5 X is a great European Hare blend. Our 10 X is a top of the line European Hare blend. Our 20 X is 20% beaver and European Hare blend. Our beaver blend is guaranteed to us to be 60-80% beaver. We sell it as 50%. Our pure beaver is only the finest under hair off the belly.

optimo's 1000 uses only the hairs from the belly of the beaver. so in the end you are saving $200 compared to optimo. plus i am sure it is available in more than just black & white.
