Halcyon Bankrupt - Hurry!

MDFrench

A-List Customer
Hey all,

British aviator goggles maker, Halcyon, has gone into liquidation. They are also unwilling to give over their goggle making machines and patterns to another manufacturer. If anyone was hoping to get their hands on some of those timeless aviator/motorcycle goggles like the classic RAF styke MK VIIIs (seen in Sky Captain) or any other styles, better contact Davida now, who distributes Halcyon goggles here in the U.S.

Just a heads up.

That bites. I have two pairs, one in the black and steel and these in the brown and brass.

halcyon goggles

spoke with chris at air diggers earlier today and got the skinny on halcyon, etc. seems there have been several versions of the mk8 goggles, including modified versions sold by air diggers.

the original halycon mk8 goggles were blue with brown leather but with buff colored chamois on the face side. air diggers versions were identical but had the bulky brown elastic strap replaced with a more correct looking grey elasticated one.

air diggers then offered a goggle which featured russett leather with chamois facings and painted in a dark grey color which made them very similar to the wartime configuration. during this order, halcyon was apparently going into liquidation and the last 50 goggles sold to air diggers were not properly completed and arrived with dark brown leather without the chamois on the face side and also painted a light gray or silver color. the air diggers goggles have always had the grey elasticated strap.

according to chris, the company handling the bankruptcy showed no interest in selling the tooling to make the goggle frames and the remaining goggles represent the end of the line.

the goggles posted by paddy with the gold frames are halcyon mk9 goggles. these were produced continously since the sixties.

HALCYON LIVES ON

The Information above is far from Accurate, Halcyon Goggles are still being Manufactured. The Company is based at a different location and is called Halcyon Design and Manufacturing Ltd, all the Goggles Previously made are still sold. They also supply Bespoke Custom Made Goggles such as Silver Plated Goggles for Ralph Lauren. I believe they are also adding a RAF Replica goggle to their Bespoke Range that will be as close to the Original WWII Goggle as possible.

All the Goggle Range is available to Purchase Online, the Address is www.halcyonmanufacturing.com
