I happened to catch "Billy Bathgate" (1991) last night...stars Dustin Hoffman...gangsters under Dutch Schultz in 30's New York. It was an explosion of great fedoras. Every style. Every color. And the race track scene at Saratoga illicited a desire to freeze frame on each of the wide variety of straw fedoras and I'm not even a straw hat guy. So, if over the long weekend ahead you want to take a break from Turner's collection of WWII flicks, rent "Billy Bathgate." You're bound to spot a hat style you've never seen before.

'course, don't forget...

...."The Sting" - pretty much every character sports a hat of some type.

I've only seen parts of Billy Bathgate, and it's been a long time. In my mind's eye, though, Dustin Hoffman and hats don't go together; something about the hair, I think.

Loved many of the hats in The Sting - especially the blue-gray fedoras.

I think it's been discussed much elsewhere in the forum, but I really liked Jeff Bridges hats in Seabiscuit.
