Okie Dokie folks this time I wanted to try something a little different .. I recently acquired a really nice brown Borsalino Uranio, which translates to uranium, I'm thinking it's the model name & not the color, I arrived at this conclusion after I completely stripped the hat and found the sticker that had T4651 58745 URANIO printed on it.

The copper lining & beautiful green ribbon was pristine, so I wanted to re-use them .. the culprit was the leather sweat which was torn in several places & had a chunk of it missing .. the hat it self was in fine condition.

I gave the body, lining & ribbon a bubble bath with ivory soap then reblocked using a old straw hat, just to maintain the shape I wanted

I wanted to use brown grosgrain for the sweatband this time around, so I hunkered down to craft it. It came out pretty good.

Man, you are too much!

Each time you share one of these, I am somewhat skeptical about whether the photos I'm seeing are a good thing or not. Then I see you wearing the finished hat and I think, "That is wayyy cool on him".

Uranio

Looks great. I think that Uranio is the color. My vintage Allessandro has the Italian word for ivory in the same place, and that does fit the color which is a light greenish-grey.

Thanks Fellas

I enjoy doing this stuff & feel more confident every time I attempt it

The hat is officially a lite weight packable now but I'm not sure how well the ribbon treatment will do, so I prb won't stuff this hat in a suitcase any time soon.

I like the feel of the grosgrain against my forehead & I'm slightly more educated on the uses of vintage ribbon over the modern **** now ... I need to find some of the good ****

Thanks for the Uranio info, good to know ... the hat is more of a brown than gray or are you referring to the ribbon?

Thank you zetwal for selling me this hat! would you happen to know the model name of it?
