How many jackets do you own?

Would this imply that you may have a Vanson in size 42 you're considering selling? I told myself I wouldn't buy another for a while, yet had to ask.
I do, or I will. I’m on vacation with the fam, but I’ll be making room in the New Year. I don’t think I have any classic styles, but some of the discontinued patterns.
When I get home I’m planning on a clear out.

Enjoy the holiday man! I'd be interested, if you'd keep me posted :)

I only have two, unless you count varsity jackets. Because I just sold two.

But two more are on the way to me, and one more is in the process of being spec'd.

At the moment, I have about two dozen jackets with some in bags and the rest on the hanger which I actually wear. Most of these were acquired just over the past two years. Before that, I had maybe only 4 or 5.
Many of these jackets are vintage US military pieces with some being originals and the rest repros (WWII - Vietnam era items).

My favorite pieces to wear are my vintage M-51 field jacket(s), Bronson M-43 field jacket, Buzz Rickson tanker jacket I got during my trip to Japan, BR brown N-1 deck jacket, Bronson M-51 aggressor, and my Bronson M-421A flight jacket.

Unfortunately, my closet is pretty full now, so I've begun downsizing my collection to only what I wear most and my favorite pieces. I'm planning on cutting down to about 10-12 jackets since I tend to only alternate between 2-3 jackets a season. I figured the jackets I don't wear much are better off with someone who will actually wear them rather than just sitting in my closet all year, taking up space. I guess I realized that sometimes you don't need to physically own something to admire it.

I currently have 6 leather and 1 suede jackets, and they have scratched all the itches. I’m no longer curious of what’s out there. I of course have too many non-leather jackets and coats to count. I’m not sure how that happened from 1-2 leather jackets, but they were relatively affordable. I recently passed on a Grizzly, a CHP straight-zip, and there are six other vintage leather jackets in my size staring at me and wanting to join my forever-growing closet. These are all affordable but any more buying would be crossing the threshold from a casual wearer to a collector. There are always deals to be had, and it’s like being bombarded with endless advertisements. If I’m completely honest with myself, I prob wouldn’t ever wear them because I have already had enough for this lifetime and several more.

I am instituting a no-buying policy (maybe no-browsing policy and no TFL, too) and need to downsize to 3 pretty soon. It’s time to enjoy the jackets I have already had and focus on other hobbies. Easier said than done though. Still, I’m going to try.

“One too many” is aptly appropriate for leather jacket ownership. Maybe “several too many”. Maybe TFL / the universe is telling me something, or I’m just reading tea leaves.
