I have been asked to make a post on behalf of our Head Cutter Murray who has been with us about 20 years all in going right back to the 90's. many of you will have met him if you have visited the factory , if not he has most certainly cut many many of your jackets having cut ten's of thousands over the years .
He is a regular "viewer" here on TFL but not a member so doesn't post., so i have posted the below on his behalf. What i can say is the film is a must if you get the chance, i really good watch., seriously good that i think is going to go on and win many awards.....
Over to Murray ..............
Well, I’m not usually one for posting on forums — more of a long-time lurker, really.
That said, I’ve always appreciated seeing both my own work and the Aero team’s creations shared here. It genuinely means a lot to see the love for everything from well-worn old Aeros to brand-new ones just starting their journey. Your comments and photos never fail to warm the heart — thank you.
Outside of Aero, life’s been keeping me busy. For over 20 years now, Aero has been a huge part of my world (and happily so), but something a bit different has recently come along: a film called "I Swear", which follows a very personal story involving my family — my brother John, our mother Dottie, and a little bit of me as well. It’s in cinemas now, and I’ll add a link if you’re curious.
With the premiere happening in London, I decided to take the opportunity to make something special to wear — something just for me, and a bit of fun for the team too.
The jacket details:
I went with a Shackleton, but with a custom pocket setup. The leather is an extremely old Blue Bison hide, skimmed down to 1.0mm — truly beautiful stuff. It’s lined with a navy blue moleskin back and a standard body lining.
It was a real team effort:
Becca, one of our talented new team members, did a stunning job with the contrast stitching — a bold ask, and she nailed it.
Andrea hand-sewed the buttons with her usual care and precision.
Diego picked out the perfect labels and cut the lining.
Angela, ever meticulous, put it all together beautifully.
And I, of course, had the pleasure of cutting the leather.
We really enjoyed making this one.
There’s also a photo of me with the actor who plays me in the film — in that shot, I’m wearing a 42 Contract A-2 in oilpull steerhide, made around 20 years ago. I believe Christine made it. Still one of my absolute favourites.
Hope you enjoy the photos and the clips — and thank you again for all the support over the years.
