Jiffy Hat Steamer

Great find, Greg. I can imagine it somehow feels incomplete without the original bottle.
Thanks, Stefan. You're right. Even though I had upgraded to a clear glass juice bottle, every time I refilled the steamer and had to go through the burping and spitting before the water equalized, I went on a search for a proper bottle. It's been a fun surprise to find out how much better the operation is and plus, it just looks good.

Hello Jiffy fans out there!

I just registered after I found this thread as the Jiffy experts here may help me out better than anyone else! :)

I got an offer to purchase a Jiffy J-4 NOS around 20 miles away from me. It is a hat steamer as this is exactly what I am looking for, but it seems to be an older model. The instructions plate says J-3 Hat Steamer and it’s in a bulkier enclosure compared to the newer, more rounded ones.

It looks a bit like that, but with a brass nozzle and no „arm“ attached:

Can someone here tell me if that is a good find or is it just too old by now? It is a new, unused product in original packaging, another J-4000H (which seems to be a newer model) costs more than 450 USD here and the seller seems to be a real nice guy.

It is nice to be here! Seems to be a great place for hat lovers! ❤

Thanks a lot!

It's a pretty simple device. Basically it boils water and forces steam out a nozzle. All else is aesthetics. We have folks on here that have antique ones and are happy with them.

it's such a simple device it should be easy to fix.
Engineers always say that. Actually, it really is. Take off the base plate and marvel at the simplicity. All of the original connecting wires are fairly light and fabric insulated. Some are short and a bit difficult to manipulate but I've replaced two, maybe three in mine. Only a couple more left and they appear in decent shape, so I've just addressed the problem as it comes up.
