John Elliott moto jacket

Supposedly hand made in Los Angeles, California with American cowhide.

The hide is similar to those of Schott
pre-broken in pebble Perfecto.

It's a slim and short fit which is great for me as I have a short torso and most jackets fall on my hip instead of my waist.

It has small underarm footballs as well as bi-swings which I find them to be better than those of Schott as they are not as bulky and they don't stick out too much.

For $2000-2500, with nothing special. For that money, one can get the same, or better quality, with the same design for much less. Ok to buy at a huge discount, if you like the fit

That's exactly what I did. Picked it up with 60% off and yes I do like the fit a lot!

It's nothing special to you but I would think it could be special to many others so I wouldn't look down on any jackets just because they are not the ones that are being worshiped around here.

Your comment is quite arrogant and narrow minded in my opinion.

Am I not allowed to be critical of a designer leather jacket? I’m not the only one who has this opinion, others share the same sentiment if you did a search. You’re free to like it as much as I (dare I say we) am free to have nothing positive to say about it.

For example:

Of course you are allowed and encouraged to engage in criticism and assessment of all kinds of things.

It's about how you do it.

It's a big difference between making an objective assessment and criticism of something than using phrases like "nothing special, waste of money ...etc"

The former is a fair and appropriate act whereas the latter is a borderline demeaning and dismissal attitude.

Basically it's about manner.

You can certainly be the “manner” police around here but I disagree with your reading of my comment.

I said “nothing special.” That’s an objective assessment. I didn’t go so far as calling it “****” or trash like someone else has done in the linked comment.

And I didn’t say “waste of money”, I might have phrased it as overpriced or overpaying. That’s another objective assessment.

If you have already bought it at 60% off and wanted to do a positive review of the JE leather jacket, you should have said that in the OP. Then you wouldn’t have gotten any comments except thanks for reviewing from the members.

Calling you out for being rude to my post does not constitute me being a manner police.

I didn't call you out on your comments to others' posts, did I?

I called you out for being rude to my post, didn't I?

Apparently I am not the only one who observed and came to a similar assessment of your comment as it was evident by another member's response above.

You can disagree and you can justify and you can spin and you can shift burden to avoid taking responsibility for your own conduct as much as you desire, but it does not change the facts.

Fit pics? How functional are the shoulder gussets? I don't quite understand from the photos how far down do they go. So at 60% discount you got it for ~800$? So around Schott pricing territory. What would make you pick this up over a Schott? The cut/pattern fits you better?

Gussets function as they should similarly to the typical bi-swings/underarm footballs.

I picked it up because of the deep discount, its decent enough quality and it fits me quite well.

I already own a Schott 613SH and a couple of Vanson pieces, so I wasn't choosing between it and Schott, but I was merely adding it to my collection.
