Leather jacket Hot water treatment

How much will a leather jacket shrink with a hot water treatment? I'm hoping to shrink the length more than width. Any techniques that work best? I searched but didn't find the answers I was looking for.

If you really need to shrink it, and I have, the hot water treatment might work, but you can't be selective about shrinking length more than width. If hot water doesn't work, put it in the dryer on low heat. Check it every ten minutes to see how it is doing. You will be able to tell by feeling it if it is getting too hot. Just let it cool down for a few minutes and then start it again, maybe for 8 minutes for subsequent cycles. On some jackets it works a treat, on others, not so much.

And if there is only one part of the jacket you want to shrink, then only wet that part.
