M-65 sleeve length alteration Q

My first post here, so apologize if this isn’t the right place or have broken any rules. Recently picked up a Buzz Rickson m-65, and I am very impressed with the quality, but the sleeves are long for me, even cinched up with the Velcro. I am wondering if it would be possible to have a tailor shorten the sleeves about 2-3 inches without losing the placket, Velcro, liner functionality etc. I think if I have to choose between sleeve length and destroying the jacket I’ll **** it up and keep it intact. Let me know what you think! Thanks.

How long is the placket now? 4" to 5"? I would not shorten anymore than half of what is there now without losing the placket detail.

Looks like a major surgery. Maybe shortening at the shoulder would give a better result? A major surgery either way.
