Yes, about 1/2 block outside the Quarter on St. Charles Avenue (which is what Royal Street is called after it crosses Canal Street). Meyer's has been there over a hundred years. They used to modify hats to a degree, i.e., they could change ribbons and so forth. I have one inexpensive brown teardrop fedora from them; I had them change the black grosgrain ribbon to a tan leather belt with a buckle. But the guy they had doing their customizations retired. Mr. Sam, the patriarch of the clan and the shop, tells me they don't do anything except steam-shaping of brims. What a great store! Within walking distance of the French Quarter in New Orleans.

I've lived here most of my life, and am supposedly inured to the heat and humidity.I'll be visiting there this May for a much needed straw hat, I think I'll melt while I'm on vacation from Alaska.
I've seen Latins and Blacks acclimated to similar climates in Miami/Caribbean. Generally, Caucasians don't seem to function as well with the possible exception of the Irish enclave in Jamaica. No one becomes inured to this kind of climate.
