Milan Straw?

Not really familiar with this particular straw or is it a braid? I purchased a vintage hat recently that looked like straw but was not of a weave I have ever seen and while the crown has a good shape/bash, the brim seems to just droop. Anyone know how to restore some "structure" to the brim? Hope I'm using the right descriptive words here, I'm new at this hat business but have accumulated my first obligatory Open Road and now, of course, I'm hooked!

I think it's a type of straw used to make the lid .... raffia, Milan, shantung, grasses, as well as Panama straw [correct me if I'm wrong fellas]
