Mister Freedom Campus Stud mini review

The Mister Freedom website has a lot of information and photos. Basically it's the campus pattern except using snaps, and a heavier weight 3-4 oz leather instead of the standard 2-3 oz.

The leather is indeed heftier, maybe around 1/16 inches thick, with a varied graining. It groans a little when it rubs together and has a strong leather smell.

The snaps work well but might be harder to work with if you like a tight fit.

The pockets are manageable, not too bad if you use your thumb to hook it open to get your hand in. I measured the pocket opening to be 5 ¼ inches.

If you are a fan of thicker leather and like this pattern, which I've found to have good mobility, the stud version is a good option.

very contrast in color, I guess they calculate one day the leather would be dark too, but going there takes a while

Somehow the snaps reduce the “cool factor” of this model jacket, and they make it look like a knock-off to me. Maybe if it was done in suede and had a big collar…

I have the Ringo version, which has snaps. I’ve also tried on the Campus in store. Functionally, I like snaps much better than the buttons, which are harder to use. But if you wear it open, not like you’d ever use the snaps or buttons.

In terms of looks, I agree that buttons are cooler. I think this version looks a bit weird (as in, out of the norms or out of place) to my eyes. Take a look at the zipper modification of a vintage Cossack, which also looks weird to my eyes.

I like the color after one year of wear much better , nice color .
Does it just getting darker naturally from exposing to sunlight and wear or you did oil or leather conditioner to it ?

Basically followed their recommendations. Time in sunlight, then water wipe, dry, and Pecards when the leather looked dry.

Thanks for posting this, looks great.

I have the Ranch Blouse and its almost getting to a shade where I like wearing it after a year, UK weather. Still doesn't feel like it needs the Pecards but I have bought some for when it does. This inspires me to wear it more.

Looks fantastic man! I myself just had the bison brown with button holes delivered yesterday. Can’t wait to wear it. I really like the design and pattern and for me, the sizing works best in a slightly relaxed fit. The best thing is the leather is very supple and conforming so will feel like a second skin quickly.

Looking forward to seeing pics and your review of this one. Especially sizing.

I’m very tempted by this one!

Looking forward to seeing it. Did you go with your normal chest size? I’m thinking about sizing up for more relaxed fit and a bit of extra body length
I went with my normal size 42 and there is plenty of room to add a layer. It’s a very relaxed, yet fitted look. I imagine it’s the pattern creating this desirable trait.

Thanks. I usually describe myself as a 38L, but perhaps that’s a hangover from the Y2K StyleForum slim fit era. I’ve been measuring some of my vintage denim jackets this morning to see if the size 40 in MF would be better for me and I think they will. Of course seeing your fit pics will help me make a final decision ;)
