Modern production hats with no taper to the crown

Custom made would be the way to go. You'd get what you want at a better price than some modern reproduction hats.

Price wise, Akubra CD and then a Stetsonian....some decent black Friday discounts from hatters that would bring the Stetsonian closer in price to the Akubra. I prefer my Stetsonian to my Akubra CD. The felt feels a little more plush and soft. Both are great hats with NO taper

Another vote for Akubra CD and Fed IV, but you may also want to consider custom lids from makers such as Gannon.
