Moths and hat colours....

So, I'm having a recurring problem with moths in my place at the minute.... moth balls everywhere, not sure where the little illegitimi are coming from.... A much-loved fifties suit had to have three or four holes stitched a couple of months ago (fortunately it was all in the crotch, out of sight). My thirties tails have escaped so far.... gah....

The odd thing is, though, that only two of my hats seem to have been affected, and both are in a very light, silver-grey shade. A vintage top hat has two tiny nibbles on the top, and a modern fedora (2" brim, lowish crown - a very mid fifties shape, to my eye - not unlike an Akubra Stylemaster, actually) which has a fair few little nibbles but nothing into a hole, still very wearable.... I don't want things getting any worse, so I'm trying to do what I can to get rid of the moths (all suggestions very welcome!). Seems strange, though, that it is only these two hats that have been affedcted, with a whole bunch of hats in the same place. I know moths are more attracted to some fab rics than others - are they also more attracted to certain shades?
