My cheapie Panama

Wanted to finally post some pics. So here's my attempt to see if I can get this right.

That's the box it came in.

So what's the consensus...is it a cheapie or something worth a little more?

A family member brought it back from Ecuador...I think she said it was $20.
and yet the box says Montecristi....Hmmmmm....I guess they could all stamp that on a box down there....I may need to submit bigger images to better see the weave.

Colby, yes please post some bigger images so we can see the weave. It may well be worth quite a bit more in our economy than what was paid on their economy. According to our own Panama Bob, twenty dollars down there would get a pretty nice hat.

How about it PB? I had one that a co-worker brought back for me but it was way lower quality and had broken straws from being folded too long in the box.

It is a Cuenca Brisa weave, but it doesn't look like it was finished in Ecuador due to the grosgrain ribbon.

PB...That is how I got it. The ribbon is a dark brown grosgrain...a fabric sweatband and of course balsawood box with monticristi on the out side.
So how much would it be worth here?

That is a hard question to ask. I see them from $20.00 on up on the internet. In Italy, you bet your bippy that they are $150+.
