The hat in the picture looks to be a Panama of some sort. It's impossible to tell exactly what kind without detailed closeup shots. Look in the Panama Canal thread and you'll see what complex a question you've posed. (We love complex questions here!)

The ladies in the pic are actually Keith Richards' daughters, who guest DJ'ed the event at the gallery for "The British Are Coming! The Beatles and The Rolling Stones 1964 - 66: The Photographs of Bob Bonis".

Must be some good genes from somewhere!

Could the hat in question be what's called a Toyo Fedora?

Toyo is a straw type, but not really. If I remember, it's a type of paper that's been made into a yarn.

Could very well be an unglazed straw, has that slightly distressed look about it. Good luck finding the hat, I'm sure if anyone stumbles across it they'll let you know.
