Querty, Sorry you don't like the crease. You will need to blame the last fellow who had it. However, I like it and I will keep it as is. I usually don't try to contrive a bash or crease that will look stiff and premeditated. I like a soft natural look That I can change when I feel like it and not worry about indelable lines and creases. Some hats need structure and a clean look,for me they are more formal. I have many of those. Every hat has it's own look, me stamping some cookie cutter shape into a great hat shows less respect. Every hat that I have had made for me whether it had a style applied to it or not, I have changed to my taste.

Astaire, maybe you just got a bad seed. I have some stiff Stetsons as well and I have many that are very soft.

Thats what I like about it Douglas, it looks like that thats the way the hat is supposed to look. To me NATURAL.

Yeah- I really think the bash is what makes the hat. Don't get me wrong- the hat would be beautiful no matter how it was bashed, but with it done that way- it stands out.

Besides, most of the hats that one sees in golden era films have that natural bash to them. Very haphazard and rumpled, even on the rich folks. Then you see the photos of the 30's & 40's of just every day folks and the hat has that non-factory bash that is very personal and befitting of the indevidual. So it's just a natural look for the inevidual. Most of my hats I hand bashed my self without the aid of a block and each one has it's one uniqueness to it. Doulgas, you've done a great respect and service to your hats by making them indevidual to yourself.

I have to agree with Douglas and DJ. I really prefer the natural look better than the "factory-perfect" bash.

To me the perfect bash makes a hat looks stiff and hence the modern look. I avoid doing that to a vintage hat of good quality.
