New forum member brand (Rugged West)

I just saw an Instagram post about a new brand from a forum member.

Seems to be built around heavyweight cowhide jackets in staple designs for men and women, at a price point that’s kind of unaddressed right now outside of fashion brands.

Has anyone tried these? If the patterns are solid this could make a good alternative to some of the ‘affordable brand’ money pits.

They look pretty good.
One sizing chart for all the models ?

I'm not sure if it's specifically the measurements for the trucker or sort of a guide so that leather jacket people can at a glance know which size should work.

Who is the member behind this company? I like the type 3. Would be super cool in black suede. Can I modify the collar? I want more.

The tagging system wasn't working but it's Leilah Wilde.

Four years ago she posted about looking for a company that makes a women's Perfecto that was as good as the Schott but for shorter women; I think starting a maker to get it might be on par with Red and Carlos having moose brought in for the jackets of their dreams.

I like that type 3. I’d want to remove the handwarmers and increase the collar. I’d be interested in seeing it on a person!

This was exactly my thought. Leather looks good, price is nice, but I'd want those same changes.

That said, some jackets are very good at hiding the handwarmers when worn. Schott's type 3 does this; very noticeable laid flat, out of sight when three-dimensional. (Unfortunately I bought it a size too big.)

Somehow I have a weakness for new small brands. Back then, the first commercial order Field Leathers received was from me and I'm taking a leap of faith and ordering the trucker jacket. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I might follow you when I sell my too-big trucker.

Wonder how customizable the jackets are in terms of features (add shoulder gussets? change pocket configuration?) and in terms of measurements.

Did you get the standard sizing or custom ?

I like the use of the term “ jacket porn” in official media as well as perhaps a reference to TFL. Beyond that I can’t see anything to be excited abour.

"We knew that there would be no half-measures taken with this jacket, so our team hand-sourced a premium waxy cowhide while our Sialkot tannery gave it its deep ‘oil black’ patina."
So where are these made? UK? Pakistan?
Is this the typical case where someone just orders jackets from 5*-ish Pakistan companies to their specification and resells them for 2x?

My best guess? Pakistan. Why else would they use leather from a Pakistan tannery?

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. As long as they use well though trough patterns, quality materials and construction methods and have proper QC in place.

Nothing wrong with that - true, but it is sketchy/suspicious when it is not mentioned where the garments are actually made.
Anyway - will be nice to hear some reviews/feedbacks once someone actually orders one of these. It does say that custom is an option for 60gbp extra. So ~550eu for a custom jacket.

I was expecting it to be a little cheaper.

The price point seems to be competing with the likes of Master Supply Co. which look decently made but definitely give that mall jacket vibe with their distressed leathers and elongated cuts.

Patterning and scaling/grading would be my biggest question. I’m assuming (and perhaps wrongly so) that the patterns come from the factory that is making the jackets which would have me a little concerned.

There’s definitely a need in the marketplace for affordable jackets of classic designs that are decently made with decent leathers and good patterns that don’t look like mall jackets. First company that can provide that in the $400-$500 price range will be a winner.
