Impressive certainly, excessive?.....well, sometimes only the very best will do. Expensive?, for me certainly but pocket change for some.

I likely won't ever be in a position to afford boots like these, so my opinion doesn't really count for much, but I don't see anything excessive about investing in quality. If those boots lasted 10 years, that would amount to about 70 dollars per year. My last pair of leather boots cost 180, and didn't even last two winters without being worn inbetween.

So, people can either be content to shell out a hundred bucks or more on something that is expected to disintegrate so you have to buy another pair in a year or two, or you can pay - albeit "out the nose" - for something that was built a) to last and b) to be repaired.

The older I get, the more I want to be rich not so I can have the ferrari I always dreamt of, but so I can use my money to escape the "manufactured obsolesence" and manufactured junk.
