I went to the movie last night, it's finishing it's Minneapolis run tonight. The movie is based on a true life story of an attempt in 1936 to climb the Eiger in Switzerland. The movie was well done, some of the most realistic climbing scenes I've seen in a movie. I loved the back and forth contrast of the scenes between the climbers on the mountain and the rich tourists at the lodge. Anybody been to the lodge at the base of the mountain (don't know the name)? I'd love to stay there someday.

Wow, just read a review today. I will have to watch this one.

Stood at the base of the Eiger. As a climber, I decided to go drink beer. Beautiful/intimidating wall that totally overwhelmed me.

Yep, a really good film. I cannot praise it enough.

North Face AKA Nordwald

Just watched this really moving film about the tragic account of the failed attempt of the Eiger North Face in 1936. Really good, moving story and really good photography, I guess Blue-Ray woould be good. Well worth watching and I guess should be in the Adventurers Gear thread too. What are fellow FL thought's on the film?
