Won this a couple of weeks ago and finally got photos done:

The last photo shows the disintegrated cellophane that at one point in time had been inside the hat, and that "bled" onto the liner. I have seen this phenomenon from time to time in various auctions, and this may explain the reason why.

I now see what others are talking about in terms of the qualities of the *******. Incredibly lightweight, smooth soft felt. There is fine stitching around the edge of the brim, which, at first, I thought was raw edge -- very subtle. The ribbon is a kind of pewter gray, as opposed to black, which I think looks very cool. The ribbon was a bit wrinkled in a couple of spots, but some steam and the back of a teaspoon took care of it with no problem!:)

Cheers, :cheers1:

That's a teardrop bash, right? I'm still a bit new at all of this. Anyway, the bash looks like a machine did it. Precise!

Do we need a "******* Club"...?

I mean, we already have a Stratoliner Society, an Open Road Guild, a Brotherhood of the Thin Ribbon. And a Stetson ******* is certainly no stranger to bunnies...:D

Anyway...thanks to all for the nice feedback -- much appreciated. (And yes, Dumbjaw, it is a teardrop bash).

If anyone can help out with dating this hat, I'd greatly appreciate it:

Does anyone know when Stetson used the black logotype (for want of a better term) as opposed to the gold logo imprint? Anybody else out there have this black imprint vs. the gold?

Do we have a definitive answer as to when the clear plastic on the liners came into play on vintage Stetsons generally?

In terms of price, it looks like a ******* went for $10 from at least 1945 - 1954. The other information may help to place it somewhere in this spectrum. Any ideas would be very helpful.

Cheers, :cheers1:
