A hat that recently came my way... Stetson 1X Nutria with a soft hand and flexible brim (it could easily be pulled up like a slouch hat), Fray sweatband. Silver foil imprint for the M.C. Lilley Co. of Columbus Ohio. I would guess this hat to date from the second decade of the 20th century.

Hi,
I have these 2 Cavalry Officer hats. One seems older than the other, it has no eyelets and is shaped differently. I am thinking they are pre-WW1, maybe Poncho Villa era ?, any help would be great.

The Company E of the 6th Cavalry is Spanish American War. Sometime between 1880 and the beginning of WW1, the US Army and USMC changed from a "cowboy hat" to a "boy scout hat". The 6th Cavalry is the cowboy hat version. The 6th Cavalry version was bashed in any and all ways imaginable including pointy Montana Peaks, 3 dent LONG peaks, round, center dent, Gus, and what is shown. Look up the Spanish American War pictures, especially those troops in Cuba and the Philippines.
