And many, if not most, of the gas stations built in that design were themselves prefabricated. There is nothing new under the sun,

Many modernist architects designed houses to be built with some degree of prefabrication, with major components assembled offsite and cobbled together onsite. This was common with the houses built on steel frames.

And we all know about the mail order house kits available early in the last century through Sears-Roebuck and Co., among others.

A friend is nearing completion of a house based on a prefab steel commercial structure. He’s getting a big bang for his buck.
