You can find these in Google Books. Here are a few:

1928 - Northeaster Flying Togs

http://books.google.com/books?id=XE...sg&hl=en#v=onepage&q=horsehide jacket&f=false

Note the prices. $35 for an barnstormer coat in horsehide was the equivalent of about $2500-3000 today (Aero sells theirs for barely over $1000).

1939 - S.H. Knopf

1942 - Monarch of Milwaukee

http://books.google.com/books?id=Hl...TpWQ&hl=en#v=onepage&q=monarch jacket&f=false

"There's something personal about a man's leather jacket. It's the partner of his pleasant hours, and a world of protection as he goes about his daily tasks."

1951 - McGregor

1955 - Buco

I read through several of the magazines. It's amazing what they got "right" in hindsight, and stunning what they got wrong. Truly a window into our past. Thanks for sharing.

I see you read my blog.

I just clicked on your blog. I didn't notice the Knopf ad. I didn't find this on your blog. I found it in Google Books, but in examining the link, they must have found it in your blog. Great minds.
