As a 46 I too used to think that anything I wanted was tough to find. After having accumulated enough jackets that I occasionally give them away to friends (three in the last week but that's way more than normal) I've changed my mind. It's never the kill it's the thrill of the chase.

I have no idea who this seller is but he appears to have a few used jackets in larger sizes. Here's one I've thought about but the 25" back is a little on the stubby side for me.

Schott would tell you that's a $1000 + jacket and they don't offer the old tan color anymore in any jacket. Tempting for certain. I can feel the supple hand and already broken in comfort from thousands of miles away and I happen to really like the tan color as it knocks the edge off of the whole black motorcycle jacket thing. Odd for me that that's objectionable as I've ridden from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, tiera del fuego, Argentina, through most states in the US and all through Europe but I rarely ride in leather and strongly prefer a leather jacket i can wear into a business meeting and not be asked "did you ride here"?

Here's a link to that same guy's store on FleaBay w/ 46, 48, 50 and 52 sizes:

Problem goes both ways I think.

Less people are large sizes or really small sizes, so they get sold less and have a lower quantity available, but there is also less demand of the secondhand market for them. Less people fighting over lower quantity of stuff. Then when you get auctions, they either get bid up really high because they're harder to find sizes or sell for below the average because its a less common size and not much competition.

More people are within the medium sizes, so they get sold more, but also because majority of people are within medium size, there is more competition to buy even though there are more samples.

But for vintage most of the stuff seems to lean towards medium or small, but also I've seen a fair amount of larger sizes as well.

That's my theory, goes either way whichever is harder to buy depending on what you want and when you decide to look for it.

Some decades ago, I remember the question came up about why the medieval suits of armor in museums seemed so small. And one of the suggestions was that maybe guys back then were smaller than guys today. Which is true, but I heard the main reason was that the museum pieces were suits of armor that young noblemen had simply outgrown. They were armor worn by guys in their late teens. Once outgrown, they ended up gathering dust as collection pieces in castles and, later, in museums.

I have not noticed this myself.
I'm a small guy who typically wears a generous 36 and It seems that when I'm looking for another of those overlooked hidden gem type jackets the deals I find are usually a 40.
Maybe it's just my timing or something.
