The best Panamas I have seen come from Optimo and Brent Black.

What’s your budget? What type of Panama hat are you looking for? You can’t do better than Brent Black, Montechristi Hat Works of Santa Fe, or Optimo of Chicago. However, I don’t own any of those as I’m a blue collar kind of guy. The Northwest Hat Co. makes a good hat for the money and it’s blocked more to my liking compared to most of the Panama hats blocked in Ecuador.

I hope this gets rolled into the correct thread. I still believe the best Panama hat VALUE on the intertubes is at www.panamahatsdirect.com/ They offer a full range of (basic to very fine) lids. They regularly have sales, and that’s the key to getting the best deal, in my experience.
