Hello,
I have ben lurking in this forum for almost a year now trying to absorb the vast knowledge and experience from the forum members here
I have finally decided to get an Aero B3 Redskin. I have a few questions for the very experienced forum members here before I send in my order.
1. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and given the long wait times with Aero, is it faster to order directly from Aero Leathers Scotland or from Mark Moye (Aero Leather USA)? I emailed Mark and he gave me an ETA of 3months at least if I order now.
2. What are the forum members experiences with the Aero B3. From what I read, there are a lot B3 threads for Eastmans and only a few from Aero. My criteria are build quality, quality of shearling (hide quality and fur length), warmth (Canadian winters can be brutal - right now its -24 degrees outside) and price. Authenticity is desirable but not deal breaking. I opted for Aero due to price, quality and historical accuracy. Eastmans are arguably more historically accurate and probably better built according to the valued members here but it is $300-400 more expensive than Aero. Cockpitusa makes a nice looking 1942 B3 repro but it is more expensive and I'm not a 100% sure of the quality - I already own a Cockpitusa Modern B3 style jacket with the handwarmer pockets. It is a warm and stylish jacket but parts of the build quality are questionable.
3. Pricewise, I can get the Aero Redskin from Mark's Ebay store for $750.00 Canadian plus $50 for shipping. Could I get a better price ordering directly from Aero Scotland? What are the custom and brokerage fees that you all experienced ordering from Scotland to Canada?
4. What type of shearling does Aero leather make their jackets out of? Is it Merino, Australian etc.
Thank you for all your advice. I plan to order the jacket in the next 24-48hrs.
RG
