Been waiting for my jacket for two years already.
Thedi kept ignoring my emails when I ask for a due date but would reply to other stuff.
Anyone else have prolonged waiting period recently?
That sounds concerning. I had talks with him recently and he quoted me 50-60 days. I didn't go through with the order though.

I know of a member here who has been waiting 3 years. The reply he received is “You have enough jackets to wear already”. He paid in full upfront and was told there is no possibility for a return.

It would appear the feeling from this maker is “I’ll get to it when I get to it and if I don’t that’s your problem, thanks for the donation”.

I won’t out the member but Theodoros knows exactly who he is and I admire the restraint of said member for not blasting his *** back to ancient mythology.

Yea, I heard the story myself from said member. Sad it went that way, makes no sense.

I’ve also heard of one similar experiences from a popular member here. I won’t name names unless he decides to chime in.

But yeah, I’ve been trying to place an order with Theodoros for about two years now, and it just hasn’t gone anywhere. I’ll ask for a quote on multiple items and he always replies back friendly, but the actual questions about the order never really get answered. I honestly don’t know why.

To be clear, I like him, I respect him, and I love his work. This isn’t meant to trash him at all. I totally understand being busy and in demand.

But it also puts me in a bit of an awkward spot when recommending him, because he’s so slammed that I can’t even get my own order in. lol

Anyways, I’m sorry you’ve been waiting so long for your jacket. That really *****. I hope he gets to it soon, and that he’s able to knock out the orders that have been sitting the longest first.

I have this canvas/leather cosack jacket - bought 6 years ago at Berlin. This jacket is also seen in the offcial music video of Rammstein's "Ausländer"

All this discussion of wait time has me concerned now. I ordered a jacket at the beginning of October and was anticipating a three month wait (as that's been the approximate timeline in the past), but realize now that we didn't actually discuss a timeline. I just emailed Theodoros to see if he has an estimate for me. I know he is very busy, so fingers crossed it isn't too long.

My first order from Theodoros took 6 months to be delivered (Oct 24 -> end of Mar 25) and when I got it, I had already outgrown slightly the chest and shoulders measurements since I had recently started going to the gym and somehow it didn't cross my mind to account for it.

I ended up placing another order 1 week later and asked him to confirm whenever he is ready to start working on the jacket, so I can send him my most recent measurements. For this one the timeline was April -> end of June he asked for the measurements -> mid/end of July I got the jacket.

That’s a good idea to check in with updated measurements. A similar thing happened with my first Thedi. Ordered in early 2020 and then packed on covid weight.

My problem with most custom makers is the ask up front. They want the full amount (1/4 of which realistically covers material cost) with no promise of a deliverable product within a realistic date range. F U. Take half, make the damn thing and print a label. Or **** off.

Full disclosure I don’t think custom jackets ever really live up to expectations. There are exceptions. In my experience, they are rare. Very rare in fact.

No matter how good a custom piece turns out, it's hard for it to live up to the expectations of the buyer after months spent planning, obsessing, and waiting.

Yea, it’s deposit only for me otherwise there is literally zero incentive to finish it for you.

I think when talking about “custom” the safest bet you can take is minor tweaks to dimensions based on existing sizing and patterns. It’s when you try to introduce all kinds of other elements into a piece that it can go array.

The biggest tweaks for me are usually just back length, sometimes sleeve length, and minor adjustments to chest and bottom hem. I generally have my preferences nailed down enough to know if something is going to fit me or not, but with tendencies (still, ugh) to make jackets longer, I need to ensure something isn’t too long where my hips and rear are going to interfere with the hem fit while still maintaining the chest and body proportions I want.

MTO helps me eliminate that worry.

That sounds a lot like what I am dealing with right now.
Guess I can only have my fingers crossed at the moment.

Wait time may be influenced by a particular color, leather or style.
Leather is often purchased in large batches. If you are the only one wanting that combination you may have to wait a lot longer. The builder is not likely willing to order a large stockpile of a particular leather that is not popular. You may be waiting until they get a dozen orders for that combination to make it worthwhile. Certain jacket styles are only made by one or two workers. If the craftsman building your style has a heap of orders you will have a long wait. If they get sick and can't work for a spell it will be even longer.

Just curious, has anyone had any problems/issues with the two-way zipper on the Memphis jacket?
No, the zipper works just fine. I do wish I had asked Theo to flip the orientation, though. The zip is on the left hand side, which in the United States is considered the side for women's clothing. I've gotten used to it over the past couple years, though, so I suppose it's no big deal. Wonderful jacket otherwise (to say the least).

True, however if I have paid 1800e upfront I would expect an email every now and then explaining why instead of the promised 60 days my order finally takes (in my case) 210.
