question about suits and hats

before anyone states "this thread is useless without pics"...

I don't have a picture of my suit, but it's a black (w/ white pinstripe) three button suit with vest.

I have a wedding / reception to go to in two weeks and was wondering if my Akubra straw (light cream, black band, see pic below) would be a worthy addition to my suit. the ceremony is in a church, but the reception is in an upscale country club in Victor, NY

I'm not necessarily looking for the "vintage" look, but something that woud be appropriate. I'd wear felt, but the only thing I have that even come close to matching is a carbon gray fed IV and I didn't think it look quite right the last time I tried it.

I'll try to post a pic of my suit tonight.

I'm open to a felt hat, but it would have to be something I could get quickly. and I really wasn't wanting to spend a ton of money (less than $125) and yes, I know that's a challenge.

I've worn my panama which has a black band and a dark suit and people tell me it looks great. I think you need to wear a light shirt and non-dark tie with it.

I think your Panama would look fine. A white shirt would be key and I think a black tie would coordinate with your hatband.

I can't see why a dark grey Fed wouldn't go with black pinstripe though. But if you think it doesn't, how about a lighter grey like moonstone? I have a carribou grey Stetson which is a similar colour to moonstone and it goes perfectly with black pinstripe, just the right amount of matching and contrasting.

I appreciate all the response, and the picture is great. thanks for the responses, this weekend I'll try a couple of setups and see what you guys like best.
