I'm in the UK. I'm about to drop about £1,000 on a couple of jackets from a Swedish retailer. Off the shelf jackets, not custom.

However, I want to know how easy it is to get a refund on the import duties should I decide to return either of them. The carrier is UPS.

Has anybody in the UK been through this before with returns? Is it easy?

Thanks

You are about to enter a minefield. Sorry I don't know the category for leather goods but I have been in the distribution business most of my life.

What might be of help to you is the UK Tax Office Import/Export website. Did you know that if you pay import duty, you must pay UK vat as well? Check it out: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vat-imports-acquisitions-and-purchases-from-abroad
UPS have a very helpful website about import/export with a section for emailing them with any queries.

Sweden is not as yet in the European monetary union so they can still set their own VAT rate, worth knowing that you might be exempt from paying that.
