I want to know too!

Hi maisie,

I was wondering the same thing. I love their shoes, but wonder how the quality is. And of course, they do not ship to Europe. But i will find a way around that if must be...

Keep your eyes peeled on ebay for them . . .I've recently seen several pairs pop up (sadly not in my size) for about a 1/4 of the retail price.

I've have the style you like in gold in the dark red for a couple of years. I love how they look but find them very uncomfortable and hardly ever wear them. They are very stiff. The toe box is too high, so my feet slide around and the tops of my toes end up scraped. Plus, the heal caps are tilted so that if I am standing flat on the heal, the ball of my foot isn't on the floor.

That said, my husband bought me this new style http://www.remixvintageshoes.com/blvd.html for Xmas and I LOVE them.
I put them on the moment I unwraped the package. With bare feet they felt like slippers. They fit really well. The swede is unbelievably soft and the leather sole is nicely flexible. I can't wait to wear them! Now I just have to find a dress to wear with GREEN shoes.

Those shoes are lovely! I never knew they did 20's/30's shoes, until I just went and had a look! I always thought it was just wedges!

I bought a pair of remix "40's pumps" over the summer while they were on sale (they were half price!). They're lovely & true to size, I like how they come in so many colors! Since re-mix makes dance shoes, I would have thought that these would be more comfortable. The leather that they're made of is surprisingly stiff and need a good deal of breaking in before they're actually comfortable to wear. I've already softened these up somewhat with mink oil. The shoes are attractive and of decent quality in terms of construction, though I wish they'd use a more supple leather!

Aris Allen also make repro wegies that they copied from orginal designs. I have a red pair and they are comfy as they are made for dancing. Unlike Bleyer, these look very authetic. But nearly all of my wedgies are original.

I have these red ones - Rugcutters

I have a pair of remix shoes and was actually surprised at how uncomfortable they were. I'm used to some pretty awful heels, but because the soles were stiff, they weren't nice for walking or dancing. Also, they seem cheaply made, which disappointed me the most. The soles have no wieght to them and feel rather awkward. I could rummage through other brands and find something that looks just as vintage without being poorly made. It may just have been that particular style that I purchased, but I hardly wear them because I've found other heels and dancin' shoes that suit my needs for the look and wearability much better. Personally, I wouldn't recommend them.

Kaela, Which style do you have? I have been eyeing their Deco & Boulevard styles, but if they are not comfy I'll just drop the desire.

I've definately been eyeing those shoes for a while too, miss 16_sparrows, but I have the 1940s wedgies. Just by looking at the picture of these they look more simple than the deco or boulevard ones, and maybe they are made lightweight for dancing, but I'd rather have something sturdy. The only remix shoes i ever purchased were these wedges.
hope that helps..

Is there anyone else that sells reporduction 1940s style pumps similar to Remix? I would love to buy theirs, but hearing about the leather quality is putting me off.

I bought a pair of remix shoes off ebay a while back, they were brand new and at that time they were going quite cheap (Think I paid $40-$50??) I haven't recieved them yet as i had them sent to my friend in CA, but when I get them I will tell you what they are like, as i haven't had any other shoes off Remix before either!

Hi Gals!

Only just spotted this - I'm still new and finding my way around!

I've had three pairs of wedgies from Phil at Remix. I've found them all very comfortable - but I do tend to find they run a wee bit long for me, so I tend to size down.

Honestly though - I haven't found anything to beat them for those reeeeeeeeeeeally hot dusty weekends when you're on your feet all day!

Vix, what size feet do you have?
I take a UK size 7, but have quite narrow feet, what do you think would be the best size to get, as i love some of the new styles they have just bought out!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm .... well, I take a UK 7 aswell Maisie. Most charts tend to indicate that this is a US 9/10, but most of the vintage 10s I have bought from ebay tend to "nip" a bit after a few hours, or be tight across the bridge of my foot - ouch! :(

I don't have a particularly narrow foot - not VERY wide, just average I'd say, so when I bought my first pair from Re-mix I went for an 11 for safety!! They really were far too big though. I now get the 10, but I find they're just that wee bit too long, my toes don't quite "peep" through the
peep hole! [huh]

Probably a 10 I'd say Maisie - unless they do half sizes now? Its a while since I bought (about 12 months), although I did have a look just recently, and had to swerve away from those little silver ankle-straps - meow!!

How many pairs are you treating yourself to?? Go on...... admit it ....!!!

Try Torrid.com, they sell larger sized clothes but, they very often have vintage inspired shoes

like so:

They have others. Most of their shoes are not leather but, they are pretty comfortable. I have about 4 pairs of their shoes and, they go up to size 12!

Or, you can try this store:

http://www.danceshoesonline.com/

They are technically dance shoes but, they have a lot of pretty styles, many of them vintage looking.
