Remove artificial cleaning scent from naked cowhide jacket

Hey all, I recently got a jacket in great condition that fits me perfectly, but the seller wrapped it in a scented trash bag and the smell is really difficult to get rid of.

I've tried hanging it outside (in a breezeway) for a week and then also treated it for 20 minutes with an ozone machine, but the scent seems to still be there. I'm wondering if it being naked cowhide has allowed the scented trash bag oils to penetrate deeper into the leather compared to a coated cowhide.

I know this is a very niche problem, but I really dislike fake scents and was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips? I'd almost rather have stale cigarette smell than this artificial cleaning scent lol. Also of course willing to just **** it up and wear the jacket until it goes away if that's the best option.

That's a very intense trash bag.

Try a vinegar water spray and hanging it inside out

The smell is more likely to be in the lining than the leather

You need to do multiple treatments using ozone machine. Once is not enough.

Any risk to drying out or damaging the leather in some way from the ozone? That’s the only reason I haven’t done another treatment yet
