I've been searching for info regarding this seemingly rare early 80's Schott Perfecto 624 D-Pocket jacket....

Not much info out there beyond this post from a fellow member back in 2019:

I ran across this jacket on the Bay this evening, and the vintage aviator style really grabbed me.... ;) Then after checking the measurements, I knew it should fit me very well. I'm especially liking the 24" back length... :)

I am usually a bit more reserved in paying used jacket prices this high (for me), but after seeing the measurements I figured this may be one of those jackets that I really like, procrastinate on, and then find it's been sold and not see another one like it for years, if ever again.... So, I went ahead and purchased it..... ;) Here's the 624 in all it's glory:

I would be interested in knowing more about the model 624's history if anyone has info to share..... TIA!! :) I'll be sure to update this with fit pics when the jacket arrives.

EDIT: I can only see a couple of similar Schott D-Pocket designs around....

I made an assumption of the jacket being from the early 80's due to info provided in the 2019 post referenced above. However, looking at this thread discussing Perfecto labels, I now see that the 624 hails from the LATE 80's or later:

That's a start with some correct info at least... ;) Going by the tag posted in the above referenced thread, it appears the jacket I purchased would be made from steerhide, not cowhide as stated in the Bay listing:

Hopefully, I'll uncover more info about this mysterious Schott jacket in time... I'm curious about just why such an attractive design (IMO) went by the wayside to the point that it's almost like it never existed....o_O

EDIT: I found info here stating that Schott started using a 10-digit barcode in 1993, same as shown on the above pictured tag:

Going by other info found it appears that the 5th digit on my jacket's lot/bundle tag dates the jacket to 1993..... :)

I've pretty much hit a wall on finding any further info regarding the Schott 624.... I'll continue updating this thread and post fit pics after the jacket arrives to help folks who may run Google searches after coming across other 624's out there...... :)

I'm stoked to have found a Schott Perfecto from 1993 in a pattern such as this. Really ticks a lot of boxes for me... Vintage aviator style, decent steerhide, solid made-in-USA construction, wool-blend plaid lining, and measurements I find fantastic for my height and 43 inch chest in a tagged size 44 ..... :) The back length will work out very well, and is a welcome change compared to many new cross-zip jackets out there which sport 25" lengths (and even longer) in regular sizing:

The big brown truck just dropped off my 624...... I am VERY pleased with the jacket! :) Looking at the low-quality eBay pics, I assumed that the leather wasn't all that thick, but I was surprised to find some nice, substantial, steerhide.... :)

Construction is very good as well (I wouldn't expect less from an early 90's USA-made Schott... ;) ) My calculations regarding sizing were bang-on, and the jacket fits as expected. Here's a few pics I just had taken. Keep in mind that I haven't had time to adjust the side belts yet:

I sent an email to Schott CS to hopefully find out more info regarding this jacket... I'll update this thread if / when I receive a reply.

Schott CS replied to my inquiry promptly. Unfortunately, not much there, but the rep did send a copy of the 1993 catalog page showing the 624.

The style 624 was only in production for one year in 1993. Unfortunately, I do not know how many were made as we do not have any records. I attached a copy from our 1993 catalog.

I suppose I got lucky with the slightly over 24" back length, since the catalog states 25" for the 624... ;) At least this limited amount of info is now available since this thread, and the other from 2019 are about the only references regarding this jacket when searched for online... :)

624 Men's 25" Deluxe Heavy Steerhide Motorcycle Jacket with wool plaid lining and adjustable side buckles. PERFECTO by Schott label. Colors: Black, Brown Sizes: 34-54

I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for a size 44 624 in brown, now that I know they were made... :) ;)
