Three I won on ebay not too long ago. I just got a big box of patterns from my grandmother as well but they're mostly from the late 60s and 70s so I'm not sure how much I can get out of them. Still pretty neat though.

Edited to add: I want to add a huge NOT in front of that Easy on the last one! Well technically it was easy to put together but fitting it was horrendous. I'm not sure why, maybe since it was my first vintage pattern and they are obviously different from modern ones. But I got there in the end I guess.

How do you get smells out of vintage patterns?

My grandmother passed away this last January and I got all her patterns and fabric. Some of the patterns were kept in the basement and has a smell to them. Does anyone know of a good way to clean them/get the smell out? Most of these patterns are from the early 1940s. Very excited to get these and sew some cute dresses. Thanks for your help! DeadPanDiva, I love that McCall pattern - sort of a 30s style Swirl dress.

Buddy5909, the smell should die down a bit with some circulation. Give them some air, just don't sit them in any sunny areas ;]

Buddy5909: My dad is a rare, valuable and antique book dealer and he deals with that type of problem all the time. One of the tricks that he uses is to very carefully put the material into a ziploc bag with baking soda. He will either use one of the fridge and freezer packs or he'll put it in loose depending on how fragile the paper is.

I already have plans for this one: gray doubleknit with a dark red stripe for the skirt and jacket and dark red double knit for the blouse. I just hope my local fabric store still has some of the stripe left after payday!

This one I LOVE but is more formal. I'm not sure I'll ever actually make and wear it.

I picked up a nice Swirl-esque pattern on Etsy today for $12.50 (McCall's 2440) - I can't afford the real thing anymore! I know I'll get a lot of use from it. (will also post on Swirl thread for info)
