Snapped or not - depends on crown

I think whether a brim is up or down really depends on the crown. If the latter is fixed or firm (bowlers, homburgs, porkpies) the brims look better up; whereas trilbies and fedoras, because of their looser shape and malleability, look better with the brim shaped.

I suppose.

Certainly bowlers and Homburgs have a preformed brim shape and should not be 'snapped' down. Almost goes without saying, don't you agree?

But I sort of think I know what you mean. For my fedoras with nice high, boxy crowns accompanied by brims of 2-1/2" or greater, I like to snap the front brim down. For my fedoras with lower and more tapered crowns accompanied by 2" brims, I prefer a brim up all around look. However, on those latter ones, I do form the brim so it isn't quite so 'Art Carney'.
