...because I found one. Background: A year ago last Christmas, my wife and I made the trek from North Hollywood, CA to Bencraft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. After almost dismantling the store and still not finding the right hat, and with a heavy heart, we were preparing to leave empty handed. It was at that moment that Mr. Goldstein, senior, did some digging and from some magic shelf somewhere in the hinterlands, he appeared with a new 'old-stock' Borsalino Torino in black. It was love at first sight for me and I left the store a happy man. But, as is typical of me, the one just wasn't enough - I wanted one in grey. Being of large noggin, it wasn't easy, so I went back to The Source. I called Besdor over and over again without any luck, but certainly driving the nice fellow mad. But last week that all changed - on da'Bay I found one, in grey. After bidding like a crazy person, I won the hat. It arrived a couple of days ago and it is the sweetest thing! Softer than an android's behind, in good shape, dating from the late 60's and originally purchased Young Quinlan in Minn. It is a fine hat.
May I present -- the Grey Torino:
Now, if I could only find one in brown. Oh, Besdor...
