Take a look at this suit, and then look at the photo of Bogey taken on his wedding day in 1945. Can't tell what color Bogey's suit was, but it must have been a fairly light color - and it is cut almost exactly like the suit being offered here - the shoulders, lapels, etc., are very similar.

This suit is made of medium weight gray flannel in a medium to light gray color. Besom pockets without flaps, 3 button front on the jacket. High waist, watch pocket, metal zip and generous drape in the legs of the trousers.

Suit was made by Hickey-Freeman - a high-end commercial shop that is still in business today - making a better-than-average off the rack suit.

The suit is nearly flawless - the only troubles it has are easily fixed - the hem of the jacket needs to be re-stitched, and the center buttonhole on the jacket has a few threads loose. Jacket is half-lined in gray satin, and the pants in white cotton that has uniformly aged to an ivory shade. No "personal stains" - or any other stains or spots - inside or out, and no holes or tears in the fabric.

The best part of all is the SIZE! Between a 44R and 46R, it will fit a good-sized modern man. Dimensions are:

Jacket - chest 48", waist 44", length 31", sleeve 32.5" center back to cuff, 24" top seam to cuff, 18" underarm to cuff.

Trousers - waist 39", inseam 30", outseam 42 1/2"

Offering to Loungers for 48hrs, then off to the 'bay. $250 shipped in CONUS, international ask about postage rate. Oh - BTW, the Dooney & Bourke suspenders are included in the deal. I will also throw in a couple of nice ties, but need your input on what you like (plain, stripe, figural, bow, etc.)

Here is some additional information prompted by inquiries:

The sleeves have approx 3/4 to 1 inch that could be let out - there may be more, but the turn-under is securely stitched underneath the lining and I don't want to undo the lining to investigate - feels fairly thick, as if there might be more fabric than is visible.

I think this was an off-the-rack "custom" suit from the days when stores employed a pretty good tailor who actually fitted stock suits to the customer's needs.

The suit has a very distinct and clean store label that says "Hickey-Freeman Custom Clothes, Spoo and Son, Oshkosh". The label inside the pocket says "Customized Hickey Freeman Co" and has blanks for Name, Date, Lot, Size, and Model - all of these are blank. It also has an Amalgamated Suit Workers union label.

Feel up, if you would please, past the lining.
Is there a place where an edge, like the end of cloth, can be felt?
How far past the lining? Past the current cuff line?
