For sale this this red label Cal-Leather straight-zip police jacket with original detachable mouton collar. Perhaps you all know, but the red label was one of Cal's earliest labels and was only used until the early 1950s. Aside from the fact that Cal straight-zips are very difficult to find, this particular jacket also has a number of features not often seen on these pieces - yoke-less (single pane) design of the back; absence of epaulettes and shoulder gussets; straight-bottom cut of the kidney panel (as opposed to the 'beaver tail' drop seen on almost all Cal-Leather jackets); button snap sleeve closures (as opposed to zip closures seen on almost all Cal-Leather jackets).

The hide is simply extraordinary (some of the very best ever used, again, these jackets were rigorously inspected prior to use on the police force), stitches are all tight and sound, the liner is overall very good, no holes in the pockets, and the main zip (I believe may be a replacement, but was installed cleanly, works well, and better than having a faulty zip to repair, no?) and pulls are in very good working order. There are two dry spots with a touch of cracking (about the size of the end of a finger) as evidenced in photos. I believe this was the result of the jacket hanging on a clothes hanger for a long period of time. It is certainly manageable as is but can also be looked at by a specialist if you so choose. The mouton collar (not often included with these jackets, even the later models) is quite good. The fur has some very light patching in select areas as expected for a delicate piece this old, but is good and hardly noticeable, no question.

Asking price is $950.00 shipped in the continental U.S. I will not be bumping the price down on this, and will remove this listing if it remains unsold in approximately two weeks time (by 6/21) as I can return it to the person I purchased this from for a full refund. Jacket will be shipped within two business day via USPS priority. I will be insuring the package and requiring an adult signature upon delivery. Paypal friends and family for payment.

Measurements taken on a flat surface, zipped up, slightly stretched, to the best of my ability:

Armpit to armpit: 22.5"
Shoulder to shoulder: 19"
Bottom hem (completely uncinched): 21"
Sleeve length (taken straight down from shoulder seam): 24"
Back length from bottom of collar down: 24"
Front drop: 2"

Please reach out if you have any questions or would like additional photos. These jackets (particularly from this decade) do not show up very often at all, so here’s your chance at a rare piece of vintage Americana in overall nice condition.
