I finally found a source for good neckties which not only have decent patterns but which actually fit me. At 5' 9" and 155 pounds normal size ties look freakishly huge on me, and because I wear higher rise pants they are always too long as well.
The solution?
Brooks Brothers ties for boys. They appear to be the same quality as their mens ties only they are of much better proportions, being available in 44" or 50" lengths as opposed to the 57"-60" of modern ties. They are also somewhat narrower. Overall, they are about the same size as a vintage tie. And the best part is that they cost roughly half of what a men's tie costs!
